hello 2017

A new year.
A new vibe.
A new feeling.
All the feels,
together.

Love.
Grief.
Exposure.
Open.
Excitement.
Readiness.

Hi. It's been a long time since I wrote on here. Not even quite sure anyone even reads this baby anymore. But, I am still going to write on here, because it makes me feel good. Currently, it's June 2017 and I am laying on my couch, relaxing and drinking a beer, watching Netflix. I had a few drinks with one of my best friends tonight and it was amazing. I feel like friendships with close friends is what life is all about now a days.

Here recently, I have felt quit lost, just not sure of myself, not sure who I was, what I want to do...etc, like most humans. I went on a beach trip at the beginning of June and it was like almost life changing. Nothing too important really happened, but I had quite the number of epiphanies during this trip. Like nothing I had experienced before, the beach brought something to me, something deep inside of me that just made me turn my life around and look at it and really think about who I wanted to be.

In March, I lost someone... someone who was so dear to my heart for so so so many years. She helped me grow, she was an inspiration, she was a friend, a lover and comforter. I haven't seen her since 2011, but she impacted my life like non-other. I can't even describe how absolutely amazing she was, beautiful and interesting. I can't believe she is gone, I fell in love so hard when I first met her. Our friendship had grown so many years, but I still felt everything for her. I just, miss her.

Her disappearance has opened my eyes, opened my heart... things are clearer now. It's strange how things have turned out with this, but I want to live a better life because of her. She was such an angel and a light in my life, I want to live a better, wholesome, simple and meaningful life in honor of her. I am traveling to St. Louis, July 22nd to honor her with her family and friends. I have no idea what to think of this, all I know is that I need to let the tears fall and know that I am so glad I got to experience her vibes, her body, her life and her love for just a little bit. I am in awe of her and just can't stop thinking of her. She was a the perfect peach.

With that being said, much has happened this year. I got engaged March of 2017. I am excited to start this new chapter in my life. With so much happening, so much changing, so much in general, I am just excited to have a partner in all of this. I am excited to move away and start a new and start fresh. Move, grow, learn and experience.

I am one. I am alive, I am well, I am loved. I want this year to be a year of smiles, hugs, love notes, written letters, rain falls, hammock afternoons, yummy beer and kitty snuggles. I am excited for what is to come, but right now I am mourning. Right now I can't get passed this absolutely beautiful human that is no longer gracing me on this earth. She is watching me and with me, I can feel her presence with me during certain times. And I love it, but i miss her dearly.

To you, my love, my peach, my lil bub... I miss you. I will send you off and remember you next month. You are loved by so so so many here. I am so glad I got to spend what little time I had with you and the tiny items I have in my hand to cherish, forever. You have always and will always mean the world to me. Your kind words, your soft spoken and interesting ideas. I just loved every part of you and I miss you so.

Thanks for reading. I shall be back with some other news, updates, ideas and feelings. Thanks for reading, if you are still here. :]

Around the Apartment

Around my home. I live in an apartment that I am smitten over. I live with my cat, Tom. He's the best roommate, most of the time. I decided to take a few snapshots of my place and at different times that are the best in this little vintage apartment.

7PM Vodka Water. My boyfriend and I like to drink vodka + water + lemon + lime. It's so nice and refreshing.

Tom and I like to have naps on our (mine) off days. Today was spent running errands. I made a tomato sandwich for lunch and I've been drinking beer and watching movies all afternoon. It's been such a nice afternoon.

I can't wait to travel the world. I'm trying to travel around once a month to a different place. In August, Nashville it is!

I hope you have a great Monday. Mondays are "my" days to rest, rejuvenate and to breathe. I clean, do laundry and watch movies. I paint, take a bath and drink wine. Cheers to a new week and a positive attitude.

Kate

P.S. I'm selling a heap of clothing on my instagram shop: www.instagram.com/thursdaysshoppe comment and or email me and I'll send it your way! Thanks a heap!

Ill.

Hi Hi.

I've been quite absent for many many weeks. Far too long.  I'm so so sorry about that. I've been quite ill since the beginning of December. I wanted to celebrate the new year starting over, starting a new with friends, a new apartment, a new friend boy.. and I ended up just celebrating when I was healthy, which was only about two weeks within four months.

But, good news: after two abscess tonsils within a month, I had to get my tonsils removed yesterday. It was a weird experience, being put to sleep is always strange to me. But my doctors were so sweet and kind. My tonsils were so infected they had a hard time removing them!

So since yesterday, I've been sleeping, watching movies and eating jello. I have to keep doing this for about a week and a half. It's only day two and I feel like I should be doing something! But I really am going to take advantage of this time and just really relax. Just have some "me" time, lots of baths, sleeping, watching dumb tv and reading blogs, grabbing inspiration when I can.
I've heard that this process is very up and down. I could feel fine for a day and then the next the world is ending. But as of right now, it hurts but I'm making it! Eating lots of jello and drinking Gatorade. Your thoughts and prayers will be much appreciated!

My sweet sweet friend Beverly sent these beauties to the hospital for me. How sweet is she? These are so perfect and pretty. (I'm starting to feel the medicine kick in, because I am spelling EVERYTHING wrong). But really, how pretty are these? From one of my favorite local shops, Tulip owned by a pretty girl named Leslie. She has a beautiful shop downtown, please go see her page. It's simply beautiful.

Thanks for being patient and listening! If any of you have been through this, please share your thoughts and experiences! I want to know anything that was helpful during this long process.

Thanks a heap!

Happy Sunday!

I didn't feel very well this morning, but I'm feeling a bit better now. I made tea with Tom and some toast. Taking it easy, I'm actually still in my robe on the couch and it's 1 PM. :/ Feel like I'm wasting the day but, I'm just taking it easy.

Bad Iphone photo, but it was delicious ginger peach tea :]
So even though I have been feeling under the weather, we still had our grand opening for Mulberry Dreams!
\

We are now open! Monday - Saturday 10AM to 6 PM, you can see me and I shall help style you! We are so excited. Please come see me!

I shall leave you alone to your Sunday. I've got to go ride around in a bit and look for places to live. Bummer I know, but I have too! Today is such a pretty day, I wish I felt better.. but hopefully I will soon. I think my good friend is coming to stay with me tonight, but we shall see how I feel.

Hope all of you have a great rest of the day!

Friday, November 8, 2013

Hi!

It's almost bedtime for me. I know it's a Friday night, but I'm on the couch resting. I went and had soup with my dad earlier (Mom is out of town, so I get to be my Dad's date). I've been sickly the past day, bad. So I've only been eating Saltines and Sprite, tried to eat a small cup of soup tonight. It was nice and light and airy. I am almost 100% better!

On a better note, the store has opened!

Her name is Mulberry Dreams and she is a beaut! I am the store manager and am looking so forward to this coming up year!

Things are changing! The weather is changing (brrrr), I have a new job, I'm currently looking for a new place to live, painting a heap more and just trying to change things overall.
You know?

If any of you have any advice about how to cope with change, please let me know. I've been trying to learn and teach myself how to deal with things in life. I'm trying to understand that you can't control people, you can only control yourself.

I'm also learning how to take things one-step-at-a-time..
I also had two art shows last month and launched my website! Please go check it out :]

Well, it's getting a bit late. I'm gonna finish my sprite and try to get some sleep.
Night night.

So, I guess I should say good morning?

My Sunday night included: Netflix, pajamas, cleaning, wine, dinner, beer, my cat, a candle and a cup of tea. Than I am about to currently make. :] Tonight hasn't been so bad.
I've actually made a list of things that are my goals in the next few weeks.
I've been on the craziest roller coaster ride for the past few weeks. A new job is happening, meeting new friends and new people, having feelings for someone, learning how to be truly independent and living life after college. It's been a wild one to say the least, but I can't complain (for right now) ;)

What have you been listening to lately? I've been all over the new Volcano Choir album, Repave. Not only will Justin Vernon melt your face off, but my ears are so happy.

I planned on staying up late, writing on my blog, watching another movie on Netflix. But alas, I have changed my mind. I think I'm about make a cup of tea and go to bed. I want to wake up in the morning and feel completely rested. I can feel my throat getting sore on one side. (No no no! Don't get sick!)

I will be back soon enough.

Love.

After having a few glasses of wine tonight, I thought I should blog a little. Right now, I am currently sitting in my apartment watching a movie that I am so uninterested in.. about to switch to another movie.

I was thinking about so much earlier. Probably too much to be honest, but I tend to do that. I'm probably going to make some hot tea in a little bit and read some of my book. I'm reading a book called, The Fault in our Stars by John Green.

It's one of those books that it excites your insides to turn the next page.. and hurts your heart to put it down. It's so entertaining. I have found that it's hard to find a book that actually makes me laugh out loud. And this book has made me laugh, cry and smile with so much happiness. Please, if you are looking for a book to read, read it.
I'm actually looking up some other books by John Green. He's such a great author.

SIDE NOTE: Just ordered two more books and more polaroids for my camera. :]

I've also been working out lately trying to get at a more happier standpoint with my weight. Does anyone out there have any advice or something that has worked for them? I'm just trying to get healthy and lose a little extra "ness" you know?

I'm about to go read a little. I can't seem to find a good movie that is catching my attention.

I must get in the shower, but I wanted to stop in and say hello. So i've moved into a new place! And it's almost perfect, I'm missing studio space to paint. :[ But that is okay, I've been hopping over to my parents basement and painting.
This is the first picture I've taken of my place. My buddy has settled in quite well.

It is truly so cute and small and perfect for little ole me.

So every one is at sxsw, huh? I went last year and just needed a break this year. But I know all my band babies had a rad time.
I've been taking it quite easy and just moving in. I'm actually really enjoying my time here in Jackson. I would really like to move somewhere that's a little bigger with more land, lots of open space and green every where.

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday. I must get ready for work. Smile a heap today!

New

I've spent my morning with coffee and reading blogs. Exciting news: tomorrow I move into my new little garage apartment. Eeeek! I'm super stoked about it. It's tiny, but I'm excited to get out on my own and live by myself. I also get to get my baby Tom back.

I'm so excited! Wish me luck! I'll be posting some pictures on here soon of my new place when I get it all decorated and what not.

So much has changed in the past few weeks, it's insane.
I have a new job, I'm back in my hometown and I'm moving into a new little apartment in the next month. Oh how excited I am to have my own place! I'll be here for a while but I hope to move in the next year or so. I'd love to live in Nashville.

I'll post pictures soon.
Time to go get ready for work and make more coffee.

Have a wonderful Monday.

The New Year

Happy January 1st!

I'm really excited about 2013. Last night I had an absolute blast with my best friends right by my side.

We cooked dinner, had wine, drank champagne, laughed a heap and lit sparklers at 12:00am. It was a great night.

I look forward to this year. A new start, new opportunities, new adventures, new people, new joys.

I wish you all a happy and beautiful new year. Cheers to a new beginning. Cheers to smiling more. Cheers to appreciating what we have been given.

A New Beginning.

I just made some green tea, slippers on, trying to find some good movies coming on tv tonight.

So tomorrow is the day. The day that this year ends. So much has happened this year, its been truly incredible. In good ways and in harder ways. I went through a bad break-up that seemed to never ever leave my mind. I couldn't get over my feelings for him or the other person that changed my life.
I also lost a lot of myself in both of these relationships and I lost my confidence. This year, I am gaining it all back. I'm gaining back my happiness and my confidence in myself.
But also some GREAT things happened this year, I had heaps of art shows AND I graduated from college with a BFA. :]

So here's a recap of some of the good things that happened this year:

In January, I hung out with pretty friends in Oxford for the holidays. I had a sad NYE but at least I had one of my best friends there with me as I cried. ;]

When March popped around the corner, I got to see my best friends throughout the month.

I also went to SXSW in March. It was an adventure to say the least.

April came and that means the greatest art festival in Oxford, MS arrives Double Decker.

In May, I got to see my twin brother graduate! He was so sick the whole weekend, but we still took a little family vacation in Alabama.

In June, I got to relax. And it was incredible.

In July, one of my closest friends was pregnant and beautiful. She has been a huge inspiration in my life and always will be. Such a pretty Mama Bird, Mrs. Erin Abbott Kirkpatrick.

In August, I got to be in a rad photo-shoot for a day. It was so much fun.

In September, I took a road trip to Nashville to see my pretty friend Maggy get married. I love Nashville so much.

October was a really great month for me. First off, my brother and I turned 23 :]
(Sorry for the bad picture. It was the only decent one.) We went to Memphis, TN.

I also got to hang out with my best friends little girl, Addie.

A few days later, I had a birthday get-together at my house. It was filled with my closest friends and it was wonderful. I felt so blessed.

(my friend Natalie made me the prettiest ombre cake. It was the prettiest cake I have ever received. I didn't want to eat it because it was so cute!)
Later that month, I had the privilege to be in the annual One Night Stand Motel Art Show in Oxford, MS. It was a memorable night. I sold everything in my room! :]

For Halloween, I was a kitty. I dyed my hair pink for the night. Which was a fun little adventure.

Then, I got surprised at the end of the month by one of my favorite people in the whole world, who was my first roommate in Oxford. She asked me to be a bridesmaid. My first wedding to be in!

November flopped around and I hibernated most of the month.

One of my friends passed away, he was a great guy. RIP Simon. We love you and still think about you all the time.

Molly Gee got married! She was the prettiest bride! Sterling and I had too much fun in the photo-booth. :]

December finally came and I worked my little butt off to finish my thesis strong. It was so much work but I was so happy with my show.

My bff came to my show.

I had a little going away party my last night in Oxford. I made some close friends my last few weeks there. I miss them all the time.

I made a huge decision and moved back to my hometown in Jackson, MS.
At the end of December, we had the Esperanza Plantation Record Label show. It's our annual christmas show. It's always incredible to see the crowds faces light up. We danced the night away backstage in the cold theatre.

And FINALLY, while living back here.. I'm having to get use to seeing my best friend "on occasion" instead of our normal every day breakfast at the same spot.

Sorry this post is so long, just wanted to recap this year. This year has had its great ups and horrible horrible lows. But I'm really looking forward to 2013!

I've already made a huge new years resolution list that I'm excited to start.

I wish you and your family a
happy new year!
Love,

Kate
